Brian Sullivan (@MadManScouting)

If you strongly dislike me or this tiny blog for whatever reason, than this is your week. My best bets stunk, and I was one Chargers choke job away from going 0-5. Oddly enough, the rest of my picks weren’t too bad. Maybe use my best bets this week as a reference for what NOT to do. Anyways, unlike Vontae Davis, I refuse to give up after a rough start. Here we go.

Brian’s 5 Best Bets
Record (3-7)

Broncos @ Ravens (-5.0)
Spread Pick – Ravens
S/U – Ravens

When a team is coming off of a bad game, on prime time, and they’re favored big against a hot team, Vegas is baiting you. Baltimore is not a fun place to play, especially for mediocre QBs like Case Keenum. Denver is a solid team, but they’ve been inflated by two relatively soft match-ups at home. Baltimore should cover this large spread at home.

Score Prediction – Ravens 28 Broncos 17

Bengals @ Panthers (-3.0)
Spread Pick – Panthers
S/U – Panthers

The Bengals have been very impressive the past two weeks, but I’m not ready to steer away from how I felt about this team in the preseason. Especially with Joe Mixon out, I doubt they will be able to run the ball effectively against this vicious Panther’s front 7. Carolina is a tough place to play for anybody. Carolina should win this one.

Score Prediction – Panthers 24 Bengals 16

Cowboys @ Seahawks (-3.0)
Spread Pick – Cowboys
S/U – Cowboys

Surprise surprise, the Seahawks can’t move the ball due to inept offensive line play. I’m not sure if it will be any easier against a tough Dallas defensive line this week. I also saw Jordan Howard run the ball down the Seahawk’s throat on Monday night. I imagine Zeke will be able to do the same, and that Dallas will control the clock and squeeze out a victory in Seattle.

Score Prediction – Cowboys 23 Seahawks 20

Patriots (-6.5) @ Lions
Spread Pick – Patriots
S/U – Patriots

No, this is not an overreaction to the Josh Gordon trade. I actually think he’ll need a few weeks to adjust to New England. What we have here is a few things. A) Vegas is basically telling you that New England is 10 points better than Detroit, minus the home field advantage. B) We have New England coming off of a loss, so they should bounce back with a big statement win. C) This is a clear coaching mismatch. This one could get very ugly. I don’t like giving up this many points, but this situation calls for it.

Score Prediction – Patriots 38 Lions 17

Steelers (-1.0) @ Buccaneers
Spread Pick – Steelers
S/U – Steelers

Right now, the Steelers appear to be a hot mess and the Buccaneers are rolling. The line opened at Steelers -2.5 and the public pounced on the Buccaneers like a pack of wild hyenas. It’s been two weeks. I won’t let two odd weeks change my opinions about these two teams. You get a better roster, and half of the stadium will likely be Steelers fans. I’ll fall for Pittsburgh one more time.

Score Prediction – Steelers 30 Buccaneers 24
