Brian Sullivan

Ah, it’s the best time of year, the week we all overreact after watching 2 games. I’ll admit, there will likely be a few here, but that’s just what happens when you have such a small sample size. Here’s the Week 2 Power Rankings, check out Week 1 here!

1) New England Patriots (2-0) (Last Week: 1)

Losing Jimmy G is very tough; in fact, I’ll probably pick the Texans this Thursday. But until I see it, the Pats stay at #1. Can you imagine how tough this team will be to beat with Brady and Gronk?

2) Denver Broncos (2-0) (Last Week: 2)

The defending champs continue to find ways to win games behind my top MVP candidate, Von Miller, and this ferocious defense. Eventually, teams will likely figure out how to stop this offense… But for now, they’re tough to beat.

3) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) (Last Week: 3)

The top 3 stays the same, as all 3 continue to look great. This offense is fun to watch… And Bell is coming back soon.

4) Arizona Cardinals (1-1) (Last Week: 5)

There’s the Cardinals we all know and love. They completely shut down the Bucs hype train, and Carson Palmer looks like the Carson Palmer of 2015. With the Seahawks struggling, this team looks ready to win the NFC West as of now.

5) Carolina Panthers (1-1) (Last Week: 7)

I’m a little concerned about this defense, even though a lot of the points they gave up were in garbage time. This team should be fine, but if the defense doesn’t step up, they won’t be redeeming themselves this year.

6) Minnesota Vikings (2-0) (Last Week: 11)

Wow, this defense continues to impress, and Sam Bradford looks great so far, despite being behind an awful line. Losing AP will be tough, especially if he misses significant time, but as long as this defense keeps playing this well, they’ll be alright.

7) Houston Texans (2-0) (Last Week: 18)

Are you sensing a trend? Defense wins championships, and this defense is legit. Brock continues to look comfortable, and they have weapons on weapons on weapons to throw to. Will Fuller continues to shine. In a weak division, they could be a sneaky candidate for a high seed in the AFC.

8) New York Giants (2-0) (Last Week: 15)

Defensive trends continue. This defensive line is absolutely dominant. The offense is very concerning, but they keep winning games. We’ll see what they’re made of when they have back-to-backs against the Packers and Vikings.

9) Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) (Last Week: 4)

No shame in going into Pittsburgh and losing by a possession. Once Eiffert returns, we should see a much more comfortable Dalton. They’ll be tested against Denver this week in a HUGE game.

10) New York Jets (1-1) (Last Week: 10)

Weird that they dropped, but I have to give credit to the 2-0 teams that have really impressed. Ryan Fitzpatrick looked phenomenal last week, and these receivers are tough to cover. They still have a brutal schedule, but if they can steal some wins, this team should make the playoffs.

11) Baltimore Ravens (2-0) (Last Week: 13)

Again, a win is a win. But that start against Cleveland was very concerning. The defense has been lights out for 7 of 8 quarters though.

12) Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) (Last Week: 24)

The Eagles are the last of the undefeated teams. Carson Wentz is the real deal, but can he keep it up all year, especially if his receivers are constantly dropping catchable balls? We’ll see.

13) Seattle Seahawks (1-1) (Last Week: 8)

This offense is not very good… Especially when Russell Wilson is hobbled. The defense is phenomenal, so if the offense can even become average, this team will go back to winning games.

14) Green Bay Packers (1-1) (Last Week: 6)

What is wrong with Aaron Rodgers? He just looks… off right now. He looks mentally out of it. This isn’t the Packers team we watched back in 2011, they have issues. That secondary is very good though.

15) Kansas City Chiefs (1-1) (Last Week: 12)

Houston is a tough team to beat this year, so I won’t discredit them too much for that loss. This team is still consistent and balanced, they should be fine going forward.

16) San Diego Chargers (1-1) (Last Week: 30)

For 7 quarters, this team has looked like a Super Bowl contender. But between that epic collapse in Week 1, and the football gods taking away players by the handful, it’s tough to imagine this team actually competing. Still, Rivers is as good as it gets.

17) Oakland Raiders (1-1) (Last Week: 10)

This defense is historically bad… But they do have talent, they’ll figure it out eventually. But for now? They suddenly don’t look so scary.

18) Atlanta Falcons (1-1) (Last Week: 23)

It was a very nice win on Sunday, but Week 1 is still embedded in my memory. I’m not buying into the Falcons yet, but they have caught my attention.

19) Dallas Cowboys (1-1) (Last Week: 16)

Another strange move, but I need a few weeks to let things get situated. Dak continues to impress; if the defense steps up, this team could be very good.

20) Tennessee Titans (1-1) (Last Week: 29)

A win is a win… That game winning TD from Mariota was gorgeous. Maybe this sparks some offense?

21) Detroit Lions (1-1) (Last Week: 19)

They were a few plays away from being 2-0… But it looks like they’ve reverted back to the same old Lions.

22) San Francisco 49ers (1-1)

They really didn’t look awful against Carolina… They gave up a lot of points, but the offense doesn’t look bad. They’ll probably fall, but hey, for now, they look better than expected.

23) Indianapolis Colts (0-2) (Last Week: 21)

Poor Andrew Luck… This team will get better once guys like Vontae return. But for now… Yikes. They have a tough match-up against a suddenly hot Chargers team too.

24) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1)

I remember Week 1… But Week 2 was absolutely brutal. I see the Bucs being ranked highly, but I feel like they were exposed. I guess we’ll see going forward.

25) Buffalo Bills (0-2)

Wow… Nothing looks right in Buffalo. Aside from a few big plays, the offense looks stagnant. The defense has lost it’s edge… I don’t have high hopes for this team.

26) Miami Dolphins (0-2)

Will Ryan Tannehill ever catch a break? Poor kid’s career is being wasted in Miami. On the bright side, the schedule should get easier going forward.

27) New Orleans Saints (0-2)

Two very tough losses… But, you have to find ways to win. This game against Atlanta next week is a must-win if they want any chance of playing in January.

28) Washington Redskins (0-2)

They’ll bounce back soon enough, this isn’t an AWFUL team… But they certainly don’t look like a playoff team.

29) Los Angeles Rams (1-1) (Last Week: 32)

Nice win, but it’s pretty much become an annual tradition for the Rams to beat Seattle. We can’t forget that horror show back in Week 1. This offense is still very concerning.

30) Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) (Last Week: 26)

Yikes… Gus Bradley has to go.

31) Chicago Bears (0-2) (Last Week: 27)

This is contingent of Cutler being out for a few weeks. This defense is actually very talented, but the offense is really struggling. They have more talent than this… But something is up.

32) Cleveland Browns (0-2) (Last Week: 31)

Poor Cleveland…
